Is it Time For a Heater Replacement?
Many homeowners don’t know when they need to get their heater replaced. After all, if you’ve never done it before and you’re not an expert, it can be difficult to tell. Here are a few signs that it’s time to think about getting a new heater.
- You’re getting to know your heater repair person. If you have had your heater repaired more than 2 or 3 times in the past year, it’s probably time to think about getting a new one. Unfortunately, many heaters simply reach a point where everything starts to break down. Even if your repairs haven’t been expensive, frequent repairs often mean that your heater is on its way out. Replace it preemptively so you don’t get cold this winter!
- Your repairs are expensive. You don’t have to have frequent repairs to know that it’s time for a furnace replacement. As your unit ages, there will be some repairs that will cost more than your heater is worth. If we find one of these, we will always tell you and give you the option of heater replacement instead. If you ever feel like a repair is too expensive, we can talk about that cost vs. the cost of a heater replacement.
- Your heater is old. Different heaters have different lifespans. However, if your furnace is 15 years old, it is likely on its way out. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to replace it now, but it’s always a good idea to get a new one before the old one dies and leaves you freezing in the dead of winter. We are always happy to talk with you about your options.
- You want a more efficient heater. Older heaters were made before a lot of the more recent energy-saving technology was developed. If going green is important to you or you feel like your energy bills are going up because your current heater isn’t working well, a heater replacement is always an option. We can help you calculate how much you might save so you can decide if this is a good idea for you.
When you call us for a heater replacement, we’ll come out and look at the square footage of your home, as well as at your budget and how much you use your unit. Based on that data, we will recommend heaters from brands we trust that are the right size for your house. Once you choose your new heater, we’ll help you get it ordered, delivered, and installed just right, so you can stay warm at home this winter!
