Here in the Lowcountry, we use our air conditioning and heat systems at least 9 months out of the year, and so it is recommended by most manufacturers to have your system evaluated at least twice a year. You wouldn’t go 10,000 miles and not change the oil in your car; accordingly you shouldn’t go more than six months without servicing your air conditioning / heating systems. Based on a study sponsored by Louisiana Cooperative Extension Services, LSU Agricultural Center and Gulf States Utility Company, Preventative Maintenance (Tune-ups) of residential air conditioning units is known to restore performance capacity, improve comfort and lower energy costs.
